Stock Donations
Getting Started
Creating Your Account
- Visit the signup page and enter your full name , email address , and password
- Your password must contain at least 6 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, a number, and a symbol
- Complete the security verification
- Check your email for a verification link and click it to confirm your account
Completing Your Profile
After verifying your email, you'll be guided through a quick setup:
- How did you hear about us? - Select how you found the app
- Tax Filing Status (optional) - Helps calculate more accurate tax savings estimates
- Annual Income (optional) - Used for personalized tax rate calculations
- State of Residence (optional) - Some states have specific tax considerations
- Accept Terms of Service - Required to use the application
Logging In
- Enter your email address and password
- Complete the security verification
- You'll be taken to your Dashboard
If you've been locked out after too many failed login attempts, wait 15 minutes and try again.
Your Dashboard
Your Dashboard is your home base, showing:
- Total Donations - The count of all your donations for the selected year
- Total Value - The combined dollar value of all donations
- Estimated Tax Savings - Based on your tax profile (requires profile completion)
- Recent Donations - Quick view of your most recent donations
- Year Filter - Controls which tax year’s data is shown on the dashboard. This filter affects dashboard totals, charts, and estimates only.
Note: How the Year Filter Works
- The Year Filter changes what year of data you are viewing on the dashboard
- It does not change or preselect the year for new donations
- New donations always use the date you enter during the donation flow
- To log a prior-year donation, select the correct date on the Donation Details step of the Add donation wizard.
Draft donations appear with a "Draft" badge and are not included in the totals until finalized.
Tax Savings Estimate
To see your estimated tax savings, complete your tax information in Profile Settings. The estimate is calculated using:
- Your total donations for the year
- Your tax filing status and income bracket
- Standard marginal tax rates
Note: This is an estimate only. Consult a tax professional for accurate advice.
Managing Charities
Before adding donations, you'll want to set up the charities you donate to. This saves time since you can reuse them across multiple donations.
Adding a Charity
- Navigate to Manage Charities from the Dashboard
- Click Add Charity
- Enter the charity's information:
- Name (required) - The organization's name
- EIN/Tax ID - The charity's tax identification number (helpful for tax records and exports)
- Address - Street address (line 1 and line 2), city, state, and postal code
- Notes - Any additional information you want to remember
- Click Save
You can also create a new charity on the fly while adding a donation — just click the option to add a new charity during the donation wizard.
Note: Duplicate charity names are allowed, since the same organization may have multiple locations.
Editing a Charity
- Go to Manage Charities
- Find the charity using the search bar or by scrolling
- Click the Edit (pencil) icon
- Update the information and click Save
Deleting a Charity
- Go to Manage Charities
- Find the charity and click the Delete (trash) icon
- You'll see how many donations are linked to this charity
- Confirm deletion
- Click Delete
Warning: Deleting a charity also removes all associated donations.
Adding Donations
Step 1 Choose Donation Type
Click the Add Donation button (plus icon) from your Dashboard and select one of six types:
- Goods - Clothing, furniture, household items
- Money - Cash, check, or card donations
- Mileage - Miles driven for charity work
- Stock - Securities and investments
- Vehicle - Cars, boats, or other vehicles
- Asset - Artwork, jewelry, collectibles, property
Step 2 Donation Details
For all donation types, you'll enter:
- Charity - Select from your saved charities (or add a new one)
- Date of Donation - When the donation was made. The actual date the donation occurred. This field specifies the tax year to which the donation belongs.
- It is not affected by the dashboard year filter
- Notes (optional) - Any additional details
- Receipt Upload - Premium users can attach supporting documents (photos, PDFs, invoices, appraisals) to any donation. See the Managing Documents section for details.
Step 3 Type-Specific Information
Each donation type has unique fields - see the next section for details.
Saving Drafts
Your donation is automatically saved as a draft when you start the wizard. Drafts appear on your Dashboard with an orange "Draft" badge. Click on a draft to continue where you left off. Drafts count toward your plan limits but are excluded from dashboard statistics and exports until finalized.
To finalize a donation, make sure you've selected a charity and donation date, then click the finalize/complete button.
Understanding Donation Types
Goods Donations
For donating physical items like clothing, furniture, or household goods:
- Use the Item Picker (split-screen layout) to quickly browse and select common items from the catalog, organized by category and subcategory
- For each item, specify the condition (Good or Excellent) and quantity
- Values are calculated automatically based on the condition, using fair market values from the catalog
- Add custom items not in the catalog by entering a description and estimated value
- Each item includes its own line total (quantity x unit value)
Money Donations
For cash, check, or electronic donations:
- Amount - The dollar amount donated
- Payment Method - How you paid (cash, check, credit card, bank transfer, PayPal, etc.)
- Recurring - Toggle on if this is a repeating donation, then select frequency (weekly, monthly, etc.)
- Notes - Additional details about this specific monetary donation
Mileage Donations
For volunteer driving (trips to charity events, delivering donations, etc.):
- Miles Driven - Total miles for charity purposes
- Other Costs (optional) - Parking, tolls, and similar expenses
- Description (optional) - What the driving was for
The deductible value is automatically calculated using the IRS charitable mileage rate for that tax year. This rate is snapshotted at the time of donation, so your record remains accurate even if rates change later.
Stock Donations
For donating securities:
- Stock Symbol - The ticker symbol (e.g., AAPL)
- Number of Shares - How many shares you donated
- Fair Market Value Per Share - Value on the date of donation
- Date Acquired (optional) - When you originally purchased the stock
- Cost Basis Per Share (optional) - Your original purchase price
- Brokerage Info (optional) - The brokerage that processed the transfer
- Notes - Additional details about this stock donation
Vehicle Donations
For donating cars, trucks, boats, RVs, motorcycles, etc.:
- Vehicle Type - Car, truck, SUV, van, motorcycle, boat, RV, or other
- Year, Make, Model - Vehicle identification
- VIN (optional) - Vehicle Identification Number
- Mileage (optional) - Odometer reading
- Condition - Poor, Fair, Good, or Excellent
- Fair Market Value - The vehicle's estimated value
- How Charity Will Use (optional) - If you know how they'll use it
- Notes - Additional details about this vehicle donation
Asset Donations
For artwork, jewelry, collectibles, real estate, and other valuable property:
- Asset Type - Artwork, Collectible, Jewelry, Real Estate, Antique, or Other
- Description - Describe the asset
- Condition - Poor, Fair, Good, or Excellent
- Fair Market Value - Appraised or estimated value
- Date Acquired (optional) - When you originally obtained it
- Cost Basis (optional) - What you originally paid
- Notes - Additional details about this vehicle donation
Editing Donations
From the Dashboard or All Donations Page
- Find the donation on your Dashboard or the All Donations page
- Click on the donation card to open it
- Each section (Donation Info, type-specific details, documents) can be edited independently
- Make your changes and click Save for each section
- Click Done
What You Can Edit
- Change the charity or donation date
- Update amounts, values, or quantities
- Add or modify notes (both general and type-specific)
- Upload or remove documents (Premium)
- For goods donations, add or remove individual items
- Change item conditions and quantities
Deleting a Donation
- Open the donation you want to delete
- Click the Delete button
- Confirm the deletion
Warning: Deleting a donation is permanent and cannot be undone.
Managing Documents
Documents (previously called "Receipts") include photos, PDFs, invoices, appraisals, and other supporting files you want to attach to your donations.
Uploading Documents (Premium Feature)
- While adding or editing a donation, look for the document upload section
- Click to upload or drag and drop your files
- Supported file types: PDF, PNG, JPEG, WebP
- Maximum file size: 10MB per file
- Maximum files per donation: 5
Images are automatically compressed to save storage space while maintaining quality.
Downloading Documents
- On donation cards, use the download button in the collapsed card header
- For donations with multiple documents, a dropdown menu lets you select which file to download
- For a single document, clicking the download button downloads it directly
Security
- All uploaded documents are stored securely with:
- Private cloud storage with access controls (only you can access your files)
- File content verification to prevent malicious uploads
- Forced download behavior (files cannot be executed in the browser)
Exporting Your Data
Export your donation records for tax preparation or personal records.
Accessing Exports
- Click Export in the navigation (from the Dashboard, click the export/download icon)
- Select the year you want to export
- Choose the export type and format (CSV or PDF)
- Click the download button
If the selected year has no donation data, the app will automatically show the most recent year that does.
Export Options
- Overall Summary - Complete donation summary (PDF only)
- All Donations - Every donation type combined (CSV only)
- Items - Goods donations only (CSV or PDF)
- Money - Monetary donations only (CSV or PDF)
- Mileage - Mileage donations only (CSV or PDF)
- Stock - Stock donations only (CSV or PDF)
- Vehicle - Vehicle donations only (CSV or PDF)
Exporting Individual Donations
You can export any single donation as a PDF receipt directly from the app:
- From the Edit Donation page: Open a donation by clicking on it, then click the Export PDF button at the top of the page
- From an expanded donation card: On the Dashboard or All Donations page, expand a donation card and click the Export PDF button at the bottom of the details
The downloaded PDF includes:
- Your name and the donation date
- Charity name, EIN, and address
- All type-specific details (items, amounts, miles, shares, vehicle info, etc.)
- Any notes you've added (both general and type-specific)
- Attached document filenames
The file is automatically named based on the donation type and date (e.g., Donation_Receipt_Money_2026-01-15.pdf).
Export All Years
Click
Export All Years (CSV) to download a single CSV file containing all your donations across all years.
What's Included in Exports
- Charity name, EIN, and full address
- Donation date and calculated value
- Type-specific details (items, payment methods, miles, shares, vehicle info, etc.)
- Notes you've added
- PDF exports include formatted headers and charity details for tax documentation
- CSV exports use type-prefixed column names (e.g., Money_Amount, Mileage_Miles)
Note: Only finalized donations are included in exports. Drafts are excluded.
Profile & Account Settings
Access your settings by clicking the Profile (person) icon in the navigation header.
Personal Information
- Full Name - Update your display name (up to 120 characters)
- Email Address - Click "Change" to update. A confirmation email will be sent to your new address. You can cancel a pending email change before confirming.
Change Password
- Enter your current password
- Enter a new password (must include uppercase, lowercase, number, and symbol)
- Confirm your new password
- Click Change Password
Note: After changing your password, you'll be signed out and need to log in again with your new password.
Tax Information
Update anytime to improve your estimated tax savings calculation:
- Tax Filing Status - Single, Married Filing Jointly, etc.
- Annual Income - Your household income before taxes
- State of Residence - Your primary residence state
Subscription & Plan
View your current plan (Free or Premium) and manage your subscription:
- Free users: See an upgrade button to go Premium
- Premium users: Manage your payment method, view renewal date, or cancel your subscription
If your plan has been downgraded (due to a promo code expiring or a payment issue), you'll see a notice explaining what happened when you next log in.

From Profile Settings, you can also access:

- App Version - See the current version and build number
Delete Account
If you need to delete your account:
- Scroll to the "Danger Zone" section
- Click Delete Account
- Follow the confirmation prompts
Warning: This permanently deletes your account and all associated data, including all donations, charities, and uploaded documents. This action cannot be undone.
Upgrading to Premium
Free Plan Limits
The Free plan includes:
- Limited number of donations
- Limited items per goods donation
- Basic features
Premium Benefits
Premium includes everything in Free, plus:
- Unlimited donations - Track as many as you need
- Unlimited items per donation - No limits on goods donations
- Receipt and Document uploads - Attach photos/PDFs to any donation
- Shared Access Control - (COMING SOON)
- Priority support - Get help faster
How to Upgrade
- Click Upgrade to Premium (shown throughout the app)
- Choose your payment method:
- Credit/Debit Card - Secure payment via Stripe
- Promo Code - Enter a code if you have one
- Complete checkout
- Your account is upgraded immediately!
Managing Your Subscription
Premium subscribers can:
- Update Payment Method - Click "Manage Payment" in Profile Settings to open the Stripe billing portal
- Cancel Subscription - You'll keep Premium access until your current billing cycle ends
- Reactivate Subscription - If you've scheduled a cancellation, you can reactivate before the period ends
- Downgrade to Free - Your existing donations are preserved; Free plan limits only apply to new donations going forward
